Description

Greenguard

The Greenguard® Restrictive and Protective Insert Plate is an enhanced option, specially designed to offer more effective food restriction while protecting your horse's teeth.

Its flexible design and smaller holes at the bottom increase its effectiveness for horses and ponies requiring strict grass intake management, particularly in cases of Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) or laminitis.

Made from thermoplastic elastomer, the Greenguard® Restrictive and Protective Insert Plate combines:

  • Increased effectiveness: The smaller holes at the bottom of the plate allow for more controlled food restriction, tailored to the specific needs of certain horses.
  • Flexible material: Designed to offer optimal comfort while ensuring effective restriction, the flexibility of the plate helps prevent irritations.

Important: Progressive use is recommended. It is crucial not to overly limit food intake. It is recommended to start with the simple protective plate and switch to the protective and restrictive plate only if necessary.

Easy to attach, the Greenguard® Restrictive and Protective Insert Plate clips into the designated slots at the bottom of the Greenguard® Therapeutic Grazing Muzzle.

Depending on your horse's needs, the following options are also available:

  • Protective Insert Plate: A soft plate designed to protect the horse's teeth from friction at the bottom of the muzzle.
  • Restrictive Insert Plate: A harder plate with smaller holes for more effective food restriction, ideal for horses requiring stricter dietary control.

Please note: The Greenguard® Shetland Therapeutic Grazing Muzzle does not have slots and cannot accommodate an insert plate. The plates also cannot be added to older generation Greenguard muzzles, which lack the necessary slots.

Instructions for use

The plate easily attaches by clipping into the slots of the muzzle.

The plate is concave; place the curved side facing down.

Ensure proper orientation: the holes must align with those in the muzzle.

Always install the plate before adjusting the muzzle, as it adds thickness to the bottom.

If adding a plate to an already adjusted muzzle, slightly loosen the straps to allow enough space to fit a finger between the bottom of the muzzle and the horse's nose.

Maintenance tips

Clean with a damp sponge.
